National Stationery Week: 24th - 30th April

It's #nationalstationeryweek, celebrating all the tools you need to put pen to paper.  Here at WCWD we've sourced the internet for our favourite eco stationery items.

Alternatively, if you're feeling crafty, why not make your own recycled pencil case?  You'll just need some old fabric and a zipper.  If you need some help here are some easy steps to follow.  We'd love to see your creations!

Spring Giveaway - Ladies Gardening Gloves

Spring has arrived, and so has our second giveaway!  We are giving away a pair of ladies heavy duty gloves from the 'In the garden with Charlie Dimmock' range.  We're also throwing in a couple of seeds, one packet contains tomato seeds and the other contains wildflower seeds designed to make new habitats for bees (to combat the global bee population decline).  Scroll down to enter!

To accompany our giveaway we've compiled some tips on how to create an eco garden,
  1. Create your own compost heap - not only are you creating your own fertilizer but you can reuse food waste that might have otherwise been thrown away
  2. Save water - collect rain water for later use
  3. Have a smaller size lawn or replace altogether - lawns require a lot maintenance and water, not to mention the amount electricity used when mowing
  4. Plant trees - trees create habitats for wildlife and improve air quality
  5. Grow your own fruit and veg - save money by growing your own and encourage your family to eat healthily
We can only post prizes to UK residents, sorry.  Good luck!

How to raise money for charity with internet searches

Did you know there is an alternative search engine to Google which donates money to the charity of your choice every time you search?  Check out, where 'making just 10 searches a day, you could raise around £20 a year for to your chosen cause'.  (Although if you're anything like me you make a lot more than 10 searches a day!)

I was pleased to find a local charity of mine in the database.  I chose Wanderers Haven Animal Sanctuary to receive donations from my searches.  Wanderers Haven is a special to me as we adopted our dog Bobby from them in 2008.  I have now saved my charity's personalised link as my home button to encourage me to visit the site.

If you already use, or will be using, let me know in the comments which is the charity of your choice to receive donations from your completed searches.  There are over 10,000 good causes to chose from!
